Our Caregivers
At Wellspring Personal Care, the most important qualities we look for in our staff are demonstrated skill, commitment and passion for the work they do. We believe that caregiving should not be transactional – we take a more intimate, care-managed approach. To achieve that, we maintain a healthy, supportive work environment for our team. We have low staff turnover, which we attribute to our respect for our employees and fair employment practices.
We fully employ our workforce – which means the client or their family doesn’t have to worry about employment details. We adhere to state and federal guidelines in all of our employment practices, and we provide workers’ compensation, minimizing the client’s risk in the event of a caregiver’s injury on the job. Wellspring is a bonded and insured agency.
Staff training and screening
Wellspring Personal Care provides a regular program of pre-assignment and ongoing training for all staff. In addition, clients may request a face-to-face meeting with caregivers prior to the start of service.
Our caregiver screening process includes an Illinois Department of Public Health fingerprint-based healthcare worker background check and professional reference checks. More information about staff training and pre-employment screening is on our Careers page.
Caregiver and clinical management specialties
Every client has unique physical and emotional needs. We work hard to match each person with the caregiver(s) they need based on each caregiver’s skills and their compatibility with the client.
Depending on the services needed, our caregiving team may include:
- Registered nurses
- Licensed practical nurses
- Certified nurse assistants
- Home services workers
Our clinical management team includes three experts:
- Licensed clinical social worker (Founder Sheila McMackin, MSW, LCSW)
- Registered nurse supervisor (Director of Clinical Services Edwin Nunez)
- Physician (Medical Director Dr. Steven C. Fox)
The clinical management team makes regular in-home visits to check in on clients and caregivers and to ensure that care plans are being followed.
